Criminal stabbed to death in Goa prison


Panaji, Jul 26 (IANS): A history sheeter, Ashpak Bengre, was stabbed to death in Goa's Colvale prison on Tuesday while being taken to a court, Inspector General of Prisons Elvis Gomes said.

Gomes told IANS that the deceased was stabbed by a sharp object after a fight with another inmate at around 9 a.m.

"The body has been sent for post-mortem. We have started an enquiry into the incident," he said.

Bengre had a series of crimes registered against him including extortion, murder, drug running and assault.
