Margao, Nov 23: Dr Rajkumkar Pallniappa, obesity surgeon for Apollo Victor, expressed his concern that the epidemic of obesity is rising about 15 to 20 percent in Goa. In next few years India will have most obesity people in the world, he added.
Addressing the press conference in Apollo Victor Hospital here he said that hereditary, diet and changing life style are three reasons of the obesity.
“We must be cautious to overturn this trend. Cases among youngsters are also on rise, for which vital we encourage them to have a good diet and take regular physical activity,” he said.
26 November is known as the "World Obesity Day'. In this regard Dr Rajkumar tried to make awareness among the people through media.
India is grappled with diabetes and heart attack diseases. Day by day the cases of both are rising. It will not be wrong if we say, India has the highest cases of same across the world, he added.
To become free from Obesity and to live a normal life sleeve gastrectomy operation is done. If this operation is done, then person can loose weight and also there are less chances of gaining the weight again.
Apollo Victor hospital will have the clinic for such operation, he added.
