‘Sahitya Sahavas ‘07’ Staged by Chembur Karnataka Sangh

Mumbai, Nov 19: ‘Sahitya Sahavas ‘07’, a special programme was held at Karnataka school auditorium, located at Patla, Vidhyasagar in the suburban Chembur on Sunday November 18, sponsored by Chembur Karnataka Sangh.

The programme was presided over by Sangh president Prabhakar Bolar while Dr Vasant Kumar Taltaje, head of department of Kannada, Mumbai University was the chief guest present on the occasion.

Endowment lecture, dance, music, presentation of awards, Tulu poets’ session and other events were held at ‘Sahitya Sahavas’. 

Veteran Bhagawat Jayaprakash Nidwannaya and advocate Subbayya Shettydelivered the endowment lecture.  Senior teacher Ramanarayan Ail, was presented with Y G Shetty excellent teacher award.  Dr Vyasaray Ninjoor was awarded with Jayanti B S Kurkal Literary award.  Journalist, Dayasagar Chowta, delivered the congratulatory speech.

 Tulu poets’ session was presided over by Shimunje, veteran poet, litterateur, dramatist.  It was inaugurated by Chandrahas Suvarna Shimantoor, popular poet.  Dayanand Salian (Sa Daya), Rammohan Shetty Balkunje, Dr Karunakar Shetty, Harekala Laxminarayan Rai, Ashok Pakkala and P Devdas Salian attended the poets’ session.

Honorary chief secretary Gunakar H Hegde welcomed.  Treasurer T R Shetty honoured the guests.  B S Kurkal, convener of sub committee for organizing arts, culture and literary events, elaborated about the awards.  Dayanand Chowta compered the programme.  Mohini T Poojary proposed vote of thanks.
