Goa, Jun 12: The Goa Forward (GF) Party on Saturday said that it was unfortunate that Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar’s brother-in-law, who was caught by the Anti-Corruption Bureau while accepting bribes, has been reinstated to the State-owned Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC).
Prabhakar Timble, the president of the recently set up outfit, said the land allotment scams in GIDC were well-known, and the corrupt practices of CM’s brother-in-law Ghanashyam Malvankar were only the tip of the iceberg. Recalling BJP’s poll slogan in 2012 of ‘zero tolerance to corruption’, he said it’s clear that the BJP has failed to act tackle corruption, and has only indulged in witch-hunting of political rivals.
“The reinstatement of Malvankar is a clear statement by the BJP government that the corrupt will be rewarded,” said Mr. Timble.
He said the “self-proclaimed, pseudo-patriotic” fringe elements of the BJP, are a threat to Goa and India, and are sowing seeds of suspicion and hatred against Catholics by raking up the issue of citizenship.
