Nigerians are a problem across country, specially in Goa : Minister

Panaji, May 30, PTI : Amid a string of attacks on Africans in Delhi, Goa Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar today demanded a strict law to deport Nigerians, claiming that they come in conflict with Indian law so as to extend their stay and indulge in drugs and other crimes.

The BJP leader's remarks came a day after a 39-year-old local woman was allegedly raped at knifepoint by a Nigerian at Parra village.

"The problems of Nigerians are not only in Goa, they are across the entire country. They (Nigerians) arrive here to study and create problem so that the case is filed against them," Parulekar said.

He was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a function to inaugurate Solid Waste Management Facility at Saligao-Calangute plateau.

"They try to stay in Goa or India and indulge in drugs and other unwanted things," he said while replying to a query on a spate of attacks on African nationals in Delhi, which are alleged to be racial in nature.

Recalling an incident, two years ago, in which a group of African nationals had blocked the national highway at Porvorim near Panaji over murder of one of their countrymen, the minister said, "We should have a strict law where we can deport them. But unfortunately there is no such law in India at the moment."

A series of attacks on Africans, including murder of a Congolese man in the national capital, has evoked a sharp reaction from African envoys, prompting the central government to step in and launch efforts to ensure safety and security of Africans. Recently, a Nigerian student was allegedly assaulted by a local over parking of car in Hyderabad.

The lenient laws and loopholes in our system coupled by corruption had encouraged these Africans, especially Nigerians and Sudanese to live bindas, as you like and do whatever you like, in the country. One can find them engaged in all sorts of criminal activities from drug peddling to prostitution. They are much worse than Arab students. These people are taught in their home countries that India is a poor country and Indians are brainless people who can be bullied easily. Why don’t they dare to behave in similar manner in the US or Europe? They know well they can’t escape the clutches of law in these countries. It’s time that laws must be made stringent and strictly applied against such anti-social elements as is done in the West.

If one cannot manage, do not accept it. Similarly, if Indian govt. cannot manage some nationals of Africans, due to different culture, do not invite them and give them visa.

    Do not create issues unnecessarily.

    Prevention is better than cure.

Does this Minister in Goa not know that for any foreigner to enter India, a visa is required and its granted by the host country ? Couldn't he open his foul mouth in front his masters in Delhi and influence inflow of Nigerians into India ?

Why bellowing now with wide dirty mouth ? Endure them for the duration of their legal status or face eviction of all Indian from African countries !

Who gave the helm of administration to these apes ???

    Lydia,
Read the article once again after taking a deep breath.
The minister was talking about Nigerians who indulge in crimes initially to get booked(so that they will have to stay back even after their Visa period till hearing or conviction), and continue life of repeated crimes. In fact he was talking about the Nigerians who entered India before two years with the permission of Monkeys, ruling at that time, who are overstaying their Visa period just waiting for the verdict from the courts.

Post script: we have seen Monkeys ruling us all these years, for a change we are seeing a human government now.

    Shankar,

The two years is what exactly I am talking about. If the Goan minister got to know Nigerians' heroics since two years' ago, why couldn't he on it to the central government ? Why did Indian Govt. allow in-flow of them even after such a bad taste in their mouth ?

Isn't two years not enough for Goa to realize their mistake or are you saying that a different party at the centre (than that is in Goa) is issuing visas ?

Good opportunity for PM to visit Nigeria on this pretext, give them a discourse on what kind of behaviour expected of them while living in India. It's estimated that there are about 50k Nigerians living in India but there are 4 time as many Indians in the oil rich country of Nigeria.

Majority Africans are good. Those who commit crime, depot them and blacklist them so that they can not enter again. We have lot of Indians living all over thr world. Tough action over Africans will be great repercussions on Indians living in Africa. One should see how illegal Africans stay in India after expiry of their visas.

Albert you managed to hit nail right on head!! While we ridicule other country / community....time to think and rationalize yourself!! This minister should learn not radicle any country or community in particular! Every country, community and religion has more good people than bad ones! Should never paint everyone with one brush!!

Most of the Gujjus & Telugus entering USA illegally, do business illegally, never pay tax, helping others to enter USA illegally by taking huge amount on FAKE student visas of FAKE universities. If USA start checking the papers of Indians, 75% of Gujjus & Telugus will be DEPORTED. Recently they caught more than 10 people all of them either PATEL or REDDY's.

It is quite true that Nigerians are problem creators.
There is no way out if locals are trouble mongers, but No country would tolerate problematic foreigners.
Why should anybody harbor trouble makers?
