Doha, May 24: In the second M Pallonji Cricket Tournament – division-II, METABO defeated SERANDIB-B by 44 runs.
The finals were played at the West Bay Sports Complex on Friday May 20, under excellent weather conditions.
The tournament had 15 teams in division II playing in 3 pools, the top 2 teams from each pool going into the quarter finals. Winning the toss SERANDIB-B decided to field. METABO totaled massive 161 runs of 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Rafaqat scored 29 runs with a six and 2 boundaries. Hussain scored 26 runs with 3 sixes and Ifran scored 23 runs with a six and a boundary. Chanaka, Roshan and Chandana took 2 wickets each while Bandula took a wicket. In reply SERANDIB-B were all out for just 117 runs in the allotted 20 overs. Bandula was the top scorer with 21 runs including 2 sixes. Prakash did 19 runs with 1 boundary. Zulfi and Monty took 2 wickets each while Khadir and Haneef took a wicket each. Man of the Finals : Hussain of METABO
Chidananda Nayak, regional general manager of M Pallonji was chief guest at the well attended prize distribution ceremony. Pooja, Sharad Reddy - contracts manager of M Pallonji and visiting guest Shetty were the guests of honour. The following were declared best of the tournament: Best batsman : Nabeel of METABOBest bowler : Roshan of SERANDIB-BBest all rounder : Prakash of SERANDIB-BBest wicket-keeper : Atiq of METABO The prize distribution ceremony was attended by supporters and well wishers. Over 300 prizes were given away to various players in the tournament. The prize distribution ended with complimentary refreshments and a lucky draw for the spectators.
