Doha, May 10: The first Mohamed Shamlan Memorial Cricket Tournament 2016 sponsored by Qatar Lubricants Co (QALCO) was inaugurated by Shahid Iqbal, operations manager of the company in the presence of the teams and managing committee members of Qatar Veterans’ League.

In the inaugural match QALCO defeated M Pallonji by 37 runs.

Doha, May 10: M Pallonji won the toss and elected to field first. QALCO losing first 3 wickets for only 11 runs recovered to score 108 runs for the loss of 10 wickets in the allotted 15 overs. Buddika 26 runs in 8 balls with four sixes, Ifzal 22 in 17 balls with two sixes and Hilmy 16 in 12 balls with a six were the main contributors.

Dixit claimed 2 wickets while Krishna, Neeraj, Milroy and Rajesh took a wicket each.

In reply M Pallonji could only manage 71 runs for 11 wickets.

Milroy 16 runs in 18 balls with a sixes.

Ruwan and Suminda took 3 wickets each and Captain Shahid Iqbal took 2 wickets.

Man of the match was Ruwan of QALCO.

The finals of this tournament is scheduled for Thursday May 26 at the MIC Sports Complex, Umm Mesaieed grounds.

As usual refreshments and complimentary Lucky Draw are arranged by the organizers. All cricket enthusiasts are invited to watch the exciting matches every night as well as the finals.
