Mangalore, Oct 15: A student from Mudipu met watery grave in Abby falls, located near Madikeri on Sunday October 14.
The deceased has been identified as Prem Sagar (17), a I year PUC student of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Mudipu near here.
Prem Sagar along with other hockey players and coach was camping in Galibeedu Navodaya Vidyalaya in Madikeri for the last two weeks, where they had gone to take part in a hockey tournament. On Sunday the coach had taken them for an outing to Abby water falls.
Sources said that Prem Sagar slipped and fell into water. Owing to strong current, there was no chance to rescue him. By the time his body was fished out in the noon, it had considerably been eaten by crabs, fish etc.
Prem Sagar had been chosen to represent Navodaya School-level hockey tournament, in Kanpur recently.
“Prem Sagar, son of K Ramesh and Ashalatha of Ullal was one of the most talented students of Navodaya Residential School”, his teachers said while speaking to ‘www.daijiworld.com.’ His last rites were held at his home town Ullal on Monday October 15 afternoon. Navodaya Jawahar Residential school declared holiday on Monday in respect of deceased Prem Sagar.
