Udupi, October 13: A two-day workshop on “Server Virtualization Technology – the latest trend in Industry” was organized by the department of Computer Science and Engineering, MIT as part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations at Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) here on Thursday October 11.

The two-day workshop is a joint endeavor of VMware and department of Computer Science & Engineering, MIT, sponsored by VMware and Tata Consultancy Services.  It consists of several lecture sessions along with a hands-on interactive lab experience on virtualization for around 106 participants and delegates.

The workshop was inaugurated by Dr HS Ballal, pro-chancellor, Manipal University.  Dr SS Pabla, pro-vice-chancellor, Manipal University and director, MIT presided over the ceremony.  Dilip Khandekar, an expert from VMware, Pune was the guest of honour.

Dr Prema KV, professor and head, department of Computer Science and Engineering, Dr NV Subba Reddy, the organizing co-chair and U Dinesh Acharya, convener, SVT-07 were also present.

Dr Ballal expressed his happiness at the success of the Institute in the Golden Jubilee year and motivated the audience to involve themselves in research and innovation for the development of the country.

Dr Dilip Khandekar inspired the audience and participants to be innovate and produce better technology.  He appreciated MIT’s contribution to industry and expressed his desire to strengthen the bond between VMware and MIT.

Dr Pabla observed the enormous development in the field of computers through the last decade and pledged to continue such educational endeavours.  The efforts of the department of Computer Science & Engineering were appreciated in bringing a marvelous gathering of academia and industry.

Students, delegates and faculty from several colleges and industry personnels attended this ceremony to participate in this workshop.
