No specific input about IS threat to Goa, says CM

Panaji, Mar 27: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Saturday said that his government has not received any information either from the Union ministry of home affairs or any intelligence agency about Goa being on the target of the terror outfit, ISIS.

He was reacting to a report from a section of the national media that Goa topped the terror group’s India hit list and the foreign tourists are its main target.

The report ascribed the information to ISIS suspects, who supposedly provided it during their interrogation by intelligence and security agencies.

Interacting with media reports  at the legislative assembly complex, Parsekar who also holds the home portfolio said that his government did receive some inputs from the Union ministry of home affairs, however there was no specific information about threat from the particular terror group to Goa.

He said that his government has been continuously taking precautionary measures, including seeking information about tourists and other non-Goans arriving in the state, from owners of hotels, motels and guesthouses where they stay.

Parsekar lamented that many a time details about tourists and new tenants are not reported to the police station in the required format, which creates difficulties before the police.
