Woman Delivers Baby In Mumbai Local Train

Mumbai, Mar 20 (NDTV): Saraswati Singh, a resident of Diva, was on her way to JJ Hospital when she went into labour.

Acting quickly, co-passengers pulled the chain and the train was halted. Government Railway police officials (GRP) reached the compartment looking for doctors on board.

Dr Karuna Milind Ahire, who was travelling in the adjoining women's compartment, helped her deliver the baby. Soon after the delivery, the mother and the new born were taken to Savitribai Phule nursing home in Bhandup.

Police have confirmed that the mother and the newborn have now been shifted to JJ Hospital, where they are now recovering.
