Boxer Vijender heads to London for next fight

Manchester, March 16 (IANS): With four professional wins in the bag already, Indian boxing sensation Vijender Singh returns to action on April 2 -- against a yet to be named opponent -- at the Harrow Leisure Centre in London.

Vijender blew away Hungary's Alexander Horvath at the Liverpool Echo Arena on Saturday night to record his fourth successive professional victory. The undefeated pugilist now heads to London for his fifth fight as he closes in fast on a title challenge later this year, planned for his homeland. This will be an eight-round fight for Vijender. His last fight was a six-rounder.

"London here I come! I can't wait to fight at Harrow and show London fans what Vijender is all about. I've fought in Manchester, Dublin and Liverpool and now I'm heading to the English capital for my fifth professional fight. I have started working hard for my fight which is just two weeks away and aiming at a fifth knockout-win in a row," said the Rewari-born.

The 30-year-old will feature in a six-round contest in Harrow which is headlined by the showdown between Liam Williams and Nav Mansouri for the British and Commonwealth Super-Welterweight titles. Welshman Williams headlines the show when he defends his titles against Rotherham's Mansouri.

"I had a good win in Liverpool last week and I want to continue my unbeaten run in London. Whoever I fight, they're are going to be in trouble. I thought that Horvath was going to give me something different but he only lasted three rounds," said the 2008 Beijing Olympics bronze medallist.

"I know that the fans in London are looking forward to me coming to fight there and there is a big buzz already. This is now a big push before returning home in the summer to challenge for my first pro title so it's crucial that I win these fights."
