Turkmenistan President to discuss TAPI project with Pakistan


Islamabad, Mar 16 (IANS): Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who on Wednesday arrived here on a two-day visit to Pakistan, will discuss with Prime Minister Nawaz Sahrif TAPI gas pipeline project.

The visit is being considered significant as both countries are set to review progress and security of the 1,814 km-long Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project, Dawn online reported.

Berdimuhamedov will also hold discussions with President Mamnoon Hussain regarding the issues pertaining to bilateral relations.

The groundbreaking ceremony of the multi-billion project was held on December 12, 2015, during Sharif's visit to Turkmenistan. Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and Indian Vice President Hamid Ansari also attended the ceremony.
