Panaji, Mar 15 (IANS): Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Monday said he was invited to Vijay Mallya's birthday bash but he rejected "with folded hands" the billionaire's offer to spend the night after the event.
Asked for his reaction to reports that the Goa administration had delayed taking possession of Mallya's lavish Kingfisher villa in Candolim beach village, Parsekar said he had nothing to do with the billionaire who owes banks as much as Rs.9,000 crore.
"I have nothing to do with him. I have heard he has some property somewhere here. Some days back he was here in Goa for his birthday. He sent across his officer to tell me that he will offer me a room to stay, I responded by saying 'I sleep in peace at home'," Parsekar said.
Asked if the state will hasten the process of possession of Kingfisher villa, whose value banks have pegged at around Rs.90 crore, Parsekar said: "If his property is on record and he has done some wrong, it will be automatically tied up."
