River navigation staffer booked in assault case


Panaji, Mar 14 (TOI): A river navigation department employee has been booked for allegedly outraging the modesty of a women at Betim.

The victim, in her complaint at the Porvorim police station, said that on Friday, Prajyot Naik, 25, a resident of Ponda and working with the river navigation department wrongfully restrained her, and also threatened her with dire consequences if the complaint lodged against him at the Porvorim and Panaji police stations was not withdrawn. Police said that the complainant alleged that she was dragged into a white car and her modesty was outraged.

Police said that the navigation office staff got together and rescued the complainant. Porvorim PI Jiva Dalvi said that they are on the look out of Prajyot Naik, and that he will be arrested soon.
