Mumbai, March 9 (IANS): A benchmark index of Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex), on Wednesday provisionally closed the day's trading higher by 134.73 points, or 0.55 percent.
The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) also provisionally closed trading higher -- by 46.50 points or 0.62 percent -- at 7,531.80 points.
The BSE Sensex, which opened at 24,527.27 points, closed at 24,793.96 points (at 03.50 p.m.) -- up 134.73 points or 0.55 percent from the previous day's close at 24,659.23 points.
The Sensex touched a high of 24,820.76 points and a low of 24,451.60 points during the day's trade.
