Noida Authority plans old age home cum orphanage


Noida, Mar 5 (IANS): The Noida Authority plans to construct an old age home cum orphanage to take care of the elderly and orphaned children under the same roof with an allocation of Rs.300 crore, an official statement said here on Saturday.

"The project strives to provide excellent care for the senior citizens and orphaned children in a homely environment. Orphans need love and guidance and the elderly need care and respect. The young children would get an opportunity to learn from the rich experience of the elders," said Saumya Srivastava, deputy chief executive officer of Noida Authority.

The centre will be built at B-11, Sector 62 Noida on a 5,000 square metre plot and has an additional 5.5 acres of park area.

On completion, it would cater to 216 adults and 160 children approximately. The four-storeyed centre will have a library, health care facility rooms, medical emergency rooms, dining areas and activity rooms.

The centre plans to have common interactive sessions for the elderly and orphaned children.

Each floor of the building will have eight four-bedded rooms, 11 two-bedded rooms along with two 10-bedded dormitory and two bedded rooms for maids.

There will be separate halls for activities like yoga, physiotherapy and meditation to inculcate and nurture a healthy lifestyle.

Each floor will also have a common room for the elderly and orphaned children with facilities of indoor games and activities.

"This is a great initiative taken by the organisation for senior citizens and orphans. The construction of the old age home cum orphanage and the Dada-Dadi Park is in full swing and will be completed very soon," said Srivastava.
