Panaji, Mar 1 (Zee News): The 2016-17 general budget presented in the Lok Sabha on Monday mirrored the thought processes of Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said.
Complimenting union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley's "fiscal vision", Parsekar said at a press conference here that the Goa government too shared the vision and priorities laid out in the union budget.
Parsekar has served as health minister in the Goa cabinet headed by Parrikar, before the latter was appointed the defence minister.
The chief minister said that given the fact that Jaitley's budget vision was in sync with the Goa government's priorities, presenting the coming state budget would be a less daunting task now.
"Presenting the state's budget for the next fiscal will be easier now. We will not have to take much pressure. We also have a similar vision. So, instead of generating monies on our own, we can utilise central schemes to raise finances. Every sector highlighted in the (union) budget has been our focus too," Parsekar said.
The chief minister said that the state government also shared interests in sectors like education, health, sanitation, agriculture, irrigation, dairy and skilling.
"We too are focussing on the same sectors. We have a framework ready. I think because of these similarities, it will be easier for us to move ahead," Parsekar said.
