Tokyo, March 1 (IANS): Japan's unemployment rate fell one-tenth in January, and now stands at 3.2 percent, official data released on Tuesday showed.
The number of unemployed people in January were 2.11 million, representing a drop of 200,000 individuals or 8.7 percent compared to the same month last year, according to figures released by the interior and communications ministry.
The number of employed people increased by 900,000 or 1.4 percent, compared with January last year and reached 63.99 million.
A total of 128 positions were available for every 100 job seekers.
The data showed a lower unemployment rate than economists expected and re-confirms the continuation of a tight labour market.
