Goa BJP gets new state committee


Panaji, Feb 21: With the upcoming assembly elections in mind, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has announced its new state executive committee comprising 50% new faces with representations from all sections of society.

Bharatiya Janata Party has attempted at giving representation to all castes, creeds and religions. Party sources said that the state executive committee is a mixture of senior leaders and those working hard for the party.

State president Vinay Tendulkar announced the names.

Dattaprasad Kholkar, Anil Hoble, Kunda Chodankar and Carlos Almeida are the four vice presidents.

Member of Parliament Narendra Sawaikar has been made general secretary along with Sadanand Shet Tanavade and Damodar 'Damu' Naik. Tanavada, who is officer on special duty (OSD), has been asked to resign to do party work.

Six secretaries are Pradeep Naik, Sheikh Jina Nabi, Satyavijay Naik, Devbala Bhise, Medha Parulekar and Medini Naik.

Sanjeev Desai, who has been the Bharatiya Janata Party state treasurer since 2002, has been retained as treasurer. Bharatiya Janata Party sources said that Desai is amongst the trusted persons of the party.

Sakhali MLA Pramod Sawant, Wilfred Mesquita, Nilesh Cabral and Kiran Kandolkar have been appointed as spokespersons for the party.

Forty-four persons have been appointed as special invitees while 57 Bharatiya Janata Party workers have been appointed as members.

Speaking to media persons, Tendulkar said that the BJP will win 26 seats in the assembly election and come back to power further mentioning that said the party will finalise seat sharing arrangements with its coalition partner Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party three months before elections.

"We will fight assembly elections with the MGP," he said
