Kerry holds summit with Hollywood studio chiefs on ISIS


Los Angeles, Feb 17 (IANS): US Secretary of State John Kerry met with the heads of major Hollywood studios to discuss America's image abroad and strategies to counter the ISIS terror group.

Universal Filmed Entertainment Group chairman Jeff Shell, who knows Kerry, arranged the 90-minute informal summit on the Universal Studios here on Tuesday, reports hollywoodreporter.com. 

"Great conversation with studio executives in LA. Good to hear their perspectives and ideas of how to counter #Daesh narrative," Kerry tweeted on Tuesday, referencing Daesh, another term for the terror group.

In his tweet, Kerry shared a photograph of his meeting with Shell, as well as MPAA chairman Chris Dodd, Warner Bros. Entertainment CEO Kevin Tsujihara, DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg and 20th Century Fox chairman Jim Gianopulos.

Also attending the session were 20th Century Fox co-chairman Stacey Snider, Walt Disney Motion Picture Production president Sean Bailey, Universal Pictures chairman Donna Langley, Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group chairman Tom Rothman, Universal Pictures president Jimmy Horowitz, Amblin Partners CEO Michael Wright and NBCUniversal vice chairman Ron Meyer.
