Oman, Feb 17: Indian Social Forum rescued Mohammad Ishaq from Ullal, Mangaluru, who was in jail due to irresponsibility of his company.
When relatives came to know that Mohammad Ishaq had been in jail for unknown reasons, they tried their best to get him released. They also tried to contact the health minister from their locality. As he was not available they expressed their helplessness to get release of their kin to the brother of the health minister. On the other hand, Mohammad Ishaq’s hope of getting acquitted diminished even through tireless efforts from his relatives for the last three months.
Meanwhile, an active committee member, Nazir Kodimbadi of Indian Social Forum, a non resident Indian settled in the city and happened to visit the jail officer for his company’s matter. He came to know that an Indian had been in prison for a few months. Nazir Kodimbadi, sprang to action alerting his other office bearers to handle the issue.
Accordingly, with the assistance of the jail officer, the committee members met Mohammad Ishaq and gathered all information/facts/contact details of his company as well as home and came to know their relentless efforts from their side as aforesaid. At the same time, as the accused became a scapegoat for the irresponsibility of his company he got the assurance he needed from their visit. As his company management had not responded well to their plea, they decided to take the issue to court as a challenge and initiated to contact all related departments, like Indian Embassy, lawyers and legal consultants.
In a few weeks of continuous efforts, they were successful in releasing him from prison in their legal battle. In addition, Mohammad Ishaq got all dues/settlement from his company and relevant papers through the Indian Embassy, in which he can revisit Oman again.
Released from prison Mohammad Ishaq was elevated and expressed his gratitude to the Indian Social Forum, members of Oman especially those who fought the legal battle lead by Nazir Kodimbadi.
