Tokyo, Feb 8 (IANS): Tokyo stocks lost ground from the off Monday following Wall Street's closing low at the end of last week following under par jobs data.
As of 9.15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 240. 15 points, or 1.43 percent, from Friday to 16,579.44, Xinhua news agency reported.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 19.71 points, or 1.44 percent, at 1,349.26.
All industry categories on the main section retreated, with the most notable early decliners comprising securities, oil and coal products, and glass and ceramics product-linked shares.
