Kasargod, Feb 4: In a disturbing development, police department has been sounded about the fact that naxals have holed up inside Kanathur forest, which falls under Karadka forest division. As such, senior police officers have been keeping a constant vigil over the movements inside the forest.

The police have sought help from Thunderbolt, an anti-naxal force with expertise in jungle warfare, so that its members can enter the forest and hunt down or flush out naxal activists.

Police department has been claiming that a lady who had visited a house near Kanathur forest about four days back was a member of the Maoist outfit since the last several years. This outfit has kept people and officials of southern states like Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu on tenterhooks since long. The police personnel showed the photograph of the said lady to locals, and got confirmation from them that she was the one who visited them recently.

The family said that the lady questioned them about the presence of men in that house. When the family members expressed their readiness to visit the nearby plantation to call the male members of the family, she went away, it is gathered.

Some women who had visited forest at Kottunguli a week back have reported about sighting of four unidentified people inside forest.
