Abu Dhabi, Feb 1: The Indian Cultural Society Karnataka chapter, has conducted a free medical check-up programme on January 28 on the occasion of 67th Indian Republic Day celebrations in co-ordination with Ittihad Medical Centre.
A number of people participated and took advantage of the free medical check-up programme which started at 6.00 pm as part of the drive for spreading greater awareness about the importance of health and environment, a press release said here.
Services such as blood pressure check-up, blood sugar check-up, HCV test (Hepatitis C Virus), prescribed medicines, laboratory tests and discounted dental services and body mass index check-up were offered and around 46 people benefited from this camp, it said.
A symposium highlighting the importance of health camps was addressed by Majeed Aladka, president, Indian Cultural Society, Abu Dhabi sector. He welcomed the gathering and briefed the participants about the social service works carried out by Indian Cultural Society in UAE and gave brief inputs of the benefits and features of medical camps. Aladka urged the participants to spread greater awareness about the importance of health benefits.
Dr Misbah Azeem, (medical director), gave a presentation about healthy living. He explained the benefits of physical activity and healthy lifestyle and explained how regular physical activity is one of the most important things for one’s health and how it reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease and diabetes syndrome and congratulated the Indian Cultural Society members for their selfless social service.
