Kim Basinger to play Mrs. Robinson in 'Fifty Shades Darker'?

Los Angeles, Jan 29 (IANS): Actress Kim Basinger has been reportedly signed on to play the role of Mrs. Robinson, a former love interest of the character of Christian Grey in the film “Fifty Shades Darker”.

Mrs. Robinson is another name for the character of Elena Lincoln, and a source has opened up about the plans of Basinger's chance of coming on board to essay it in the sequel of “Fifty Shades of Grey”, reports ew.com.

Lincoln is a business partner and former lover of the protagonist Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) in the film. Introduced in the second book in E.L. James’s best-selling series, Lincoln sets herself up to be an antagonist for Ana Steele (Dakota Johnson).

Basinger starred in the 2013 film "Grudge Match” with actors Robert De Niro and Sylvester Stallone. She also appeared in indie films like “The 11th Hour” and “4 Minute Mile” in 2014.

The 62-year-old has also wrapped up work on another project which even features actors Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling.

“Fifty Shades Darker” will be director James Foley’s first foray into the series. Foley is also helming the next instalment, “Fifty Shades Freed”.

“Fifty Shades Darker” is slated to release on February 10 next year.
