Bengaluru, Jan 29: General secretary of All India Congress Committee, Oscar Fernandes, told the reporters that the decision of the national president of Congress is final on all issues concerning the party, and questions cannot be raised against this decision.
Oscar had met Karnataka chief minister at his home office, 'Krishna' on Thursday January 28, to discuss with him certain demands put forth by Kharvi community. Speaking to media persons thereafter, Oscar said that decisions taken by central election committee headed by Sonia Gandhi are final as far as election issues are concerned, and that the decisions taken here have to be obeyed at any cost.
"I do not have any information about the fact that Byrathi Suresh, who was a strong contender for Hebbal constituency, failed to get the ticket at the last minute. Congress party is not facing any dilemma or indecision about issuance of tickets in the three assembly constituencies which are going to bypoll. The high command takes a decision after consulting state president of the party, senior leaders etc and also duly understanding mood of party activists. We do not have any other option but to accept this decision," he explained.
He also clarified that duties on specific issues are allotted to different people, and that it is the duty of the concerned individuals to discharge duties in their respective fields. Oscar refused to field questions over criticism heaped on Jaffer Sharief by some Congress leaders over the role he played in Hebbal ticket issue. He also opted not to respond to questions over whether the 'B' form issued to Byrathi Suresh was withheld, and whether senior Congressmen worked at New Delhi together in favour of Rehman Sharief.
