Tokyo, Jan 25 (IANS): Tokyo stocks opened higher in early trading on Monday, as a rise in oil prices and a strong showing on Wall Street on Friday bolstered sentiment.
As of 9.15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 106. 79 points, or 0.63 percent, from Friday to 17,065.32.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 12.12 points, or 0.88 percent, to 1,386.31.
Notable early advancers comprised foods, mining and financing businesses-linked issues.
