Kasargod, Jan 23: 80th annual day celebrations of Don Bosco School at Kayyar were held on Friday January 22. On this occasion, Bishop of Mangaluru Diocese, Fr Aloysius D'Souza, who inaugurated the new computer lab building of the school, delivered benedictory address.
The meeting programme held later was presided over by the Mangaluru Bishop. Addressing the gathering, he noted that this school has contributed immensely towards success in life of its students, their allround progress, and leading them in the path of divine values. "Giving value-based education to students is the need of the hour. Parents should give more attention to their children," he felt.
Secretary of Mangalore Catholic Board of Education, Fr Jerald D'Souza, Manjeshwar sub-district education officer Nandikeshan, Paivalike gram panchayat president, Bharati J Shetty, member, Rajeevi Rai, Manjeshwar block project officer, Vijayakumar P, president of Parents Teachers Association of the school, Girish Kayyar, president of Old Students Association, George D'Almeida, headmaster of the school, Louis Monteiro, MPTA president, Sridevi, school students leader, K S Swarna and many others were present.
At the function, students with high achievement in the fields of academics and sports were honoured by guests. Those who helped in constructing the new building were also felicitated in recognition of their contributions.
Headmaster of the school, Louis Monteiro, presented the report. School convener and priest of Christ the King Church Kayyar, Fr Victor D'Souza, welcomed the gathering. Teacher, Magdalene Crasta, proposed vote of thanks. Teachers, Shalini D'Souza and Nirmala, presented the programme. On this occasion, variety cultural programmes were staged by the school children.
