Tumakuru, Jan 23: "The discretion to make me Karnataka state BJP president vests with top leadership of the party," said former chief minister of Karnataka and national vice president of BJP, B S Yeddyurappa.
Addressing a press conference here on Friday January 22, Yeddyurappa said that at present he has been discharging duties as national vice president of the party. "We are now working for the success of the party in the coming zilla and taluk panchayat elections, by travelling all over the state. My team has been given responsibility of Tumakuru, Davanagere, and Chitradurga districts," he explained.
Yeddyurappa stated that respective core committees have been vested with the responsibility of choosing candidates for zilla and taluk panchatyat elections, and that the state committee takes a decision only in cases where there is confusion about the candidature. He expressed confidence that his party will rise to power in 15 zilla panchayats.
He criticized chief minister,Siddaramaiah, for training to gain publicity by expressing anger at low spending of funds meant for welfare of scheduled communities, rather than honestly working for them. He noted that grants have not been spent in many departments, and money has not been released for action plans. He also blamed the chief minister for failing to meet the demand to bring out white paper on the financial status of the government, duly pointing out that the citizens have the right to know the financial standing of their government.
