Khulna (Bangladesh), Jan 19 (IANS): Zimbabwe batting consultant Marvan Atapattu believes that Bangladesh are at the top of their game at the moment.
Over the span of both his playing and coaching careers, Atapattu has spent a considerable length of time in Bangladesh. The former Sri Lankan batsman was also the coach of Chittagong Vikings in last year's Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), reports bdnews24.com.
"It's a challenge because we are playing against a very good side, who are at the top of their game. (Bangladesh players) believe that they can win games from any situation and that's the major change that I've seen, touring this country since '89 when I was an Under-19," Atapattu said.
"Every team goes through different phases. At the moment, Bangladesh are in peak form. They have won against major countries in Bangladesh. They are playing as a team."
Bangladesh currently lead the four-match Twenty20 International series 2-0 with the next match scheduled on Wednesday.
Atapattu, who stepped down as Sri Lanka's coach last September, will be with Zimbabwe as their batting consultant until the conclusion of the series against Bangladesh.
"I will be here with these guys till the end of this series and try to work with Dav (Whatmore), whom I know for years and help them tactically and technically in the coming days."
