Kundapur, Jan 16: A person was arrested under POCSO Act and produced in court on Friday January 16 for allegedly repeatedly raping a minor girl aged 13 years.
The accused is Gajendra Poojary from Balkur who works as a labourer in a tile factory.
As per the details of the case, Gajendra sent messages to the mobile phone of victim's father threatening that if she did not do as he bid, her father would be killed. The girl's father being an illiterate did not understand the messages, it is said.
The girl who feared for her father's life allowed the accused to abuse her sexually, it is said. This happened several times.
One night, the father, who came out from the house to answer nature’s call, realised that his daughter was missing. He looked for her and it was then that the matter came to light. He tried to catch hold of Gajendra, but the latter managed to escape.
The victim’s father lodged a complaint in Kundapur police station.
The police led by circle inspector P M Divakar and sub-inspector Nasir Hussain managed to apprehend the accused.
The police have registered a case against Gajendra for rape under POCSO Act and produced him in Udupi court. The court has sent the accused to judicial custody.
