Car-borne robbers snatch away 1.5 kilograms of ornaments

Kasargod, Jan 13: In an incident which occurred near the old bus stand here on the night of Tuesday January 12, robbers succeeded in forcibly snatching away gold ornaments weighing 1.5 kilograms from a jeweller.

Tony (50) from Thrissur was the jeweller targetted by the said robbers. Tony was walking towards the bus stand of Kerala State Road Transport Corporation, when a gang occupying a car suddenly approached him when he was walking past Mahboob Theatre. The gang snatched away a bag containing 1.5 kilograms of gold ornaments held by him, and fled from the spot in their car immediately.

Tony was a jeweller who had come to the town to supply gold ornaments to jewellery stores here. He was going to the bus stand to return to Thrissur. Before that, it is said he had visited Sullia and Puttur to deliver ornaments to some jewellery shops there and had returned to the town thereafter.

It is said that the robbers came in a Maruti Swift car. Policemen from the town police station, who rushed to the spot immediately after coming to know of the incident, have been making all out efforts to identify and arrest the culprits.
