Kundapur, Jan 11: Gifted playback singer, Padma Bhushan Dr K J Jesudas, celebrated his 76th birthday by visiting Goddess Mookambika temple at Kollur in the taluk and performing Chandika Homa there to appease the goddess.
Jesudas arrived at the temple, accompanied by wife, Prabha Das, at 5 am on Sunday January 10, and paid obeisance to the goddess. Thousands of his fans and followers had come down to Kollur from different parts of the country including Kerala in advance to celebrate his birthday. Jesudas, accompanied by his family members, performed different puja rituals at the temple under the guidance of senior priest, N Govind Adiga and Tantry of the temple, Ramachandra Adiga. They then had the darshan of the Goddess.
Dr K J Jesudas, who has been an avid devotee of the Goddess, has been visiting the temple on his birthday every year. On this occasion, president of temple management committee, Krishnaprasad Adyantaya, felicitated Dr Jesudas and Prabha Jesudas on behalf of the temple.
Executive officer of the temple, T R Uma, assistant executive officer, Krishnamurty, superintendent, Ramakrishna Adiga, and member of the committee, Jayanand Hoblidar, were among those present on the occasion.
