Tokyo, Jan 7 (IANS): Tokyo stocks opened lower on Thursday following declines in the overnight US stocks market amid geopolitical concerns in the Middle East and northeast Asia.
At 9.15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 60.60 points, or 0.33 percent, from Wednesday to 18,130.72, Xinhua news agency reported.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 2.21 points, or 0.15 percent, to 1,486.63.
