Construction company seeks security in Bihar

Patna, Jan 6 (IANS): A private company engaged in construction of Ganga Expressway in Patna has sought security following killing of two engineers in Darbhanga district last month, an official said on Wednesday.

"We have sought security cover on the site of construction for our employees," an official of Visakhapatnam-based Navayuga Engineering Company Ltd., said.

The company officials said that they had submitted a written application to the officials including Patna Senior Superintendent of Police Manu Maharaj in this connection.

"But so far, we have not been provided security," the official said.

According to the company, most of the employees are reluctant to work in night without security.

The foundation stone for the first phase of Ganga Expressway was laid by Nitish Kumar in October 2013. The 21.5 km stretch (phase I) will connect Digha to Didarganj along river Ganga.

In December, two engineers of a private construction company were killed in Darbhanga by two motorcycle-borne unidentified criminals allegedly for not paying extortion money.
