Bengaluru: Arvind Jadhav to be chief secretary of Karnataka

Bengaluru, Dec 31: State chief minister, Siddaramaiah, who was keen on choosing either additional cheif secretary (ACS), Ratna Prabha, or another ACS, S K Pattanayak, to the post of chief secretary, but was under pressure from Lingayat circles to choose V Umesh to the post, finally decided to purely go by seniority and make senior-most IAS officer, Arvind Jadhav, who was the chairman of Karnataka Appellate Tribunal, as chief secretary.

Arvind, an IAS officer from Uttar Pradesh, who will take over the mantle from current chief secretary, Kaushik Mukherjee, who is retiring on December 31, will be retiring on May 31 next year. Siddaramaiah signed his order of appointment on Wednesday and forwarded the same for the approval of Union Public Service Commission, it is gathered.
