Udupi, Dec 26: “The independent candidate, Jayaprakash Hegde’s statement that Congress party is threatening voters is an attempt by him to mislead the voters. Congress party is not afraid of him who has become people representative in local elections with the support of the party. The independent candidate is unnecessarily threatening voters and lying to them. There may be differences between the way a national party and independent candidate request the electorate to cast the vote. Congress party has the experience of facing several elections. It has not conspired to secure illegal votes”, stated a press release from Udupi Congress, on Saturday December 26.
“The statement by Harikrishna that Congress is distributing money for votes is far from truth. The attempt of independent candidate to spoil the image of Congress will not be successful. He further says that the party is only using backward classes and cheating them is not true. 98% of the Congress leaders and ministers in the coastal area belong to backward classes.”
“The statement by Harikrishna Bantwal is a question mark for his political career. As only the representatives of local groups are the electorate in legislative elections, there is no need for an open campaign. Therefore, the leaders in the party have indulged in personal visits to request for votes”, informed the press release.
Karnataka Pradesh Congress Samiti member Dinesh Puthran, Udupi Chickamagaluru Loksabha constituency youth congress vice president Sunil D Bangera, Inter district president Murali Shetty, District panchayat member Diwaker Kunder, District Congress secretary Harish Kini, district Congress chief secretary B Narasimhamurthy and block Congress reporter Bhaskar Rao Kidiyooru were present during the press release.
