Mangaluru, Dec 18: “A two-day AYUSH (Ayurveda, yoga, Unani, Sidda and homeopathy) festival will be held at Dr Shivaram Karanth Pilikula Nisargadhama on December 19 and 20,” said deputy commissioner AB Ibrahim at a press meet, held at DC office, on Friday, December 18.
D C Ibrahim further said, “This programme is meant to make the public aware of the benefits of AYUSH, as a health maintaining and immunity developing system. There will be different activities including conferences, exhibition of medicinal plants and medicines, food festival and cultural events. We request all the interested people to participate and take benefit of this AYUSH festival.”
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Asha Jyothi Rai, president of AYUSH foundation said, “Inaugural ceremony will be held at 10 am on December 19. Various cultural events will be held in the evening from 5.30 pm to 7.30 pm. AYUSH Institutes of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, various AYUSH organizations, AYUSH practitioners and AYUSH companies of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi will take part in this festival. 12 speciality clinics will be set up and check up will be conducted exclusively for the benefit of general public."
"AYUSH products such as medicines, cosmetics, equipments and publications will be showcased and sold at a discounted price in the stalls.”
“The potential curative aspects of AYUSH medicine and the scope of services will be highlighted. The medicinal plants Expo is also organised to give importance to the medicinal plant, its conservation and promotional activities. This platform will showcase various activities that are relevant to cultivation, conservation and popularization of medicinal plants. Food and dietary habits being the essence of AYUSH, the food expo will have different types of food advisable according to the constitution of persons, seasonal foods, special foods for preventing diseases, health promoting foods, AYUSH diets etc."
"The traditional Dakshina Kannada cuisine and live demonstration of their preparation will be done at the stalls and sold at concessional rates. 12 different Indian breeds of cow will be kept for exhibition. AYUSH card will be distributed to those who require, so that they can take treatment at institutions affiliated with us,” she said.
Dr Devadas, district AYUSH officer was also present at press meet.
