Lokotsav-2016 folk festival to commence from Jan 9

Panaji, Dec 17: The Directorate of Art and Culture, Government of Goa in collaboration with West Zone Cultural Centre, Udaipur will be organizing folk music and craft workshops during the Lokotsav-2016 folk festival at Kala Academy, Campal, Panaji.

These workshops are being organized to promote traditional folk music and crafts. Workshops such as bandhani, bead work and chikankari will be organized for five days namely from January 9 to 13 2016. The music workshop in Langa Mangniyar will be organized for eight days namely from January 9 to 16, 2016 at Kala Academy, Campal Panaji from 2.30 to 5.30 pm.

The participants will be trained in these workshops in the field of bandhani, bead work, chikankari and managniyar music by the experts from the respective states such as Rajasthan and Gujarat. In each workshop maximum 50 participants will be accommodated.

The interested participants are requested to collect the application forms from the Department of Art and Cultrue, Sanskruti Bhavan, Patto, Panaji from December 18 to 28 and submit the filled forms back to the department by December 31 during the office hours from 9.30 am to 5.45 pm.
