Beijing, Dec 17 (IANS): Chinese stocks opened higher on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.5 percent to open at 3,533.63 points.
The smaller Shenzhen index opened 0.73 percent higher at 12,602.67 points, Xinhua news agency reported.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.79 percent to open at 2,784.97 points.
