Ajman: Minister of state for medical education visits GMU

Ajman, Dec 15: Dr Sharanprakash R Patil, minister of state for medical education – Karnataka, India visited Gulf Medical University (GMU) UAE on Sunday December 13. The minister was received by the founder president of the board of governors of GMU - Thumbay Moideen, along with the academic leadership of the university headed by GMU provost, prof Gita Ashok Raj.




The minister was taken on a tour of the institution and appraised about the facilities and the infrastructure available, especially in the Center for Advanced Biomedical Research and Innovation (CABRI) and the Center for Advanced Simulation in Healthcare (CASH).

The minister was impressed with the facilities and rated GMU as one of the best universities he had ever visited. “As a medical professional myself, I am impressed with the advanced facilities that are available, and more importantly the teaching methodology has impressed me. The high quality of medical services offered by the network of Thumbay hospitals and clinics is also very impressive,” he remarked.

The minister also expressed his admiration for the pioneering spirit of Thumbay Moideen. “I can see a lot of hard work put in by Thumbay Moideen in establishing such a world class institution in the UAE and I am proud of his achievements. I strongly encourage and invite him to establish such a campus and hospitals in Bengaluru or Mysuru. We would like to have more discussions on this matter,” he added.

Addressing the students, the minister reminded them that medicine being a noble profession, professionals must use it for the service of humanity rather than commercializing it. The minister was honored with a special memento by the founder president, to mark his visit to GMU.

Gulf Medical University
