Mangaluru, Dec 13: Mayor Jacintha Vijaya Alfred participated in Kittel Educational Institutes’(KEI) anniversary celebration and praised their efforts and contribution to the growth of Kannada medium education. The institutions also hold extracurricular activities and pro society programmes to enhance the talents of students.
She was speaking after participating in the joint anniversary celebrations of UBMC higher primary school, Kittel Memorial High School and Kittel Memorial Pre University College on Saturday, December 12.
Church of south India Karnataka southern diocese chief secretary Isaac Vijay Shekar presided over the programme. Karnad Sadashiva Rao memoraial trust, Light house hill president Pramod Shetty, Ishwarananda Mahila Sevashrama Society Kankanady honorary secretary Sharad S Pandith, Church of south India Karnataka southern diocese treasurer Udayaraj Kounds were present as guests of honour.
Old student of the college Akshatha, who has secured third place in the taluk by writing in Kannada medium was felicitated by Kannada authority, Pramod Shetty from the trust who has been supporting student's educational activities. Society's Sharad S Pandith, Mayor Jacintha Vijay Alfred, retired headmaster Vincent Samuel Karkada, teacher Manoranjini, old student sportsman Pramod who had participated in Indian got talent and journalist Vasanth were felicitated on the occasion.
High school teacher Sri Krishna welcomed and compered the programme. Primary school headmistress Suvina, high school headmistress Diana Jyothi Frank and Vittala read the reports of their schools. Prize distribution was carried out by primary school teacher Violet Albuquerque, High school teacher Manorama Vajrakanthi and College lecturer Serina Amitha. Teacher Udaya Shanker proposed vote of thanks.
In the flag hoisting ceremony and prize distribution held in the morning, Kittel educational institutes convener Dr D R Sadananda, old students Mangaluru city corporation members J Surendra and Electrical contractor Bhaskar Kotian participated.
