Kundapur, Dec 11: Due to the exemplary presence of mind displayed by a girl students of a school at Ampar in the taluk, the policemen could trace the vehicle that had knocked the headmaster of the school down before speeding away without caring for the injured person.
K Boju Shetty (64), headmaster of Sanjay Gandhi English Medium School at Ampar, a little distance away from the town, was going to his school in his motor bike from his home at Kattinabail, Ulloor, when a pick-up vehicle hit his two-wheeler. The accident had occurred on Wednesday December 10 at 8.30 am near Kulkunje school. Boju Shetty suffered serious injuries in this accident.
A girl student of Sanjay Gandhi English Medium School, who was walking by the roadside to the school, saw that the vehicle had escaped after knocking down the headmaster. She immediately noted down the registration of the vehicle in a slip and handed over this number to school authorities later.
The school authorities provided this number to the policemen of Shankarnarayana police station. The policemen have succeeded in tracing the vehicle and taking it into possession.
Boju Shetty is being treated at Manipal Hospital. He has suffered serious injuries to his leg and head. He had earlier functioned as mathematics teacher in Sanjay Gandhi Kannada Medium School at Ampar before being appointed headmaster of the said school upon his retirement.
