New Delhi, Dec 9 (IANS): Nayaab, an exhibition, will see as many as 15 desigenrs showcasing their signature collections which make use of Indian textiles. A collection of garments, fabrics and saris will be on display.
The event, curated by Rupa Sood and Sharan Apparao, will highlight the edge of design and skill.
Nayaab will endeavour to move away from the watered down textile crafts and showcase the more difficult laborious, old, complicated traditional skills being produced by
revivalists who are dedicated to the pursuit of these exceptional skills, read a statement from the organisers.
Textile revivalists Suraiya Hassan and Jenny Housego will also be honoured for their lifetime contribution to the field, at the event, which will be held from December 11-13 at The Lodhi here.
Jaya Jaitly will be the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony on Thursday evening.
Exhibiting designers at the event will include Abdul Jabbar Khatri, Aneeth Arora-Pero, Darshan Shah of Weavers Studio; Anjali Kalia of Kora, Asif Sheikh, Sonal Sood and Anu Lalwani - En Inde, Gaurang Shah, Meera Kumar - Indian Textiles, Meera and Muzaffar Ali - Kotwara, Mona Lamba and Pali Sachdev of Monapali; Neeru Kumar - Tulsi, Swati Kalsi, Neha Puri Dhir, Raymond Manickshaw and Sanjay Garg of Raw Mango.
