Goa, Dec 9: Although delayed, Goa government has announced the collection of fund towards Chennai flood relief with chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar appealing public to contribute for the cause.

Parsekar announced the collection of the fund during a press conference held here today.

The chief minister said all the legislature colleagues should contribute for the fund. They will be contributing one day salary for the coffers which would go in CM relief fund.

“State government and BJP are committed towards providing a helping hand to the people affected with natural calamities,” Parsekar said.

His statement comes in the wake of recent demand by Congress party to cancel birthday celebration of union defence minister Manohar Parrikar which is scheduled on December 13.
