MPT’s mechanical plant starts handling of iron ore

Mormugao, Dec 8: Goa based Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) has began handling the iron ore at its mechanical plant at berth number nine, officials said.


M V Sanvi which loaded a parcel of 72500 m/tons of iron ore at berth no 9 for M/s Royalline Resources ltd became the first vessel to be loaded at MPT’s mechanical ore handling plant during the year 2015, after resumption of mining operations in Goa.

The last vessel loaded with iron ore at berth no 9 was M V Zhe Hai 168, in June 2014. Ever since the lifting of mining ban by the Supreme Court on April 21 2014, this is the 5th iron ore vessel being loaded at the MOHP at berth no 9.

The next vessel M V Evermighty for loading iron ore through the MOHP at berth no 9 has already been nominated and is due to arrive on December 9.
