Goa-Mumbai double decker train to be flagged off on Dec 6

Goa, Dec 5: Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu will flag off the double Decker train connecting Goa to Mumbai on Sunday December 6 at Margao railway station.

“It was a long cherished dream of passengers on Konkan Railway Route to have a double decker train between Mumbai and Madgaon to cater to the extra rush in order to make the journey more comfortable,” says the press note by Konkan Railway Corporation Limited.

Taking into account the need of the passengers as well as the request of chief minister of Goa to Suresh Prabhu, minister for railways to introduce a double decker train between Mumbai and Madgaon, it has now been decided to run an AC Double Decker Train between Mumbai and Madgaon.

Suresh Prabhu, minister for railways will flag off the inaugural run of AC Double Decker Express Train from Madgaon on Sunday December 6 at about 15.30 hrs.

AC double decker express train no 11085 will have AC chair car coaches and will leave Lokmanya Tilak Terminus every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at about 05.30 am and will reach Madgaon at about 17.30 hrs on the same day.

Similarly in the up direction, train no. 11086 will leave Madgaon every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at about 06.00 am and will reach Lokmanya Tilak Terminus at about 17.10 hrs the same day.

This train will halt at Thane, Panvel, Khed, Chiplun, Ratnagiri, Kankavali, Sawantwadi Road, Thivim and Karmali in both the directions.
