Panaji, Aug 20: State's main opposition BJP has reacted to the allegations leveled by internationally acclaimed pop singer Remo Fernandes with a caution.

“All politicians are not bad; there are 10 to 15 per cent of them who are good. Politicians are part of society and reflect the society itself,’’ leader of opposition Manohar Parrikar stated.

Remo, on Friday August 17 had refused to accept the state award scheduled to be given to him on Saturday August 18 protesting against the “loot of the state’’ by the politicians.

He had pointed out the mastermind of controversial regional plan 2011 are in the ministry and opposition in the current government.

“It is his right not to accept the award but I feel that he should be talking about the government and not the opposition. All those who were part of regional plan are in the state government, not in opposition,’’ Parrikar commented.

The former chief minister said that if Remo did not want, he should have refused the award earlier rather than waiting for the last minute.

Citing that Remo has been on criticism spree for last few years, Parrikar said that he (Remo) has begun thinking negative for last two-three years. “He should come with the suggestions rather than being so much negative,’’ Parrikar said.

Remo earlier had refused to participate in the International Film Festival of India claiming it as a lesser priority event considering the basic requirement like garbage clearance, medical facilities and education in Goa.

Remo already made many constructive suggestions to Mr. Parrikar, telling him to spend equal amounts on Health and Education in Goa as on IFFI. He suggested that all criminal politicians and ministers be put in jail.

Mr Parrikar, who shares political bed with likes of Babush and Churchill and anyone available when convenient, cannot try to show himself as Mr Clean. He and Opposition are equally to blame for Regional Plan as they did not expose or oppose it before GBA did.

Does Manohar Parrikar consider himself to be amongst the 10 to 15% of the good politicians and is he one of those persons who lives off legitimate earnings? I wonder. It is high time politicians will have to mend their ways or if they want to loot the country, people and society they should refrain from entering into politics.

Otherwise, the consequences would be disastrous and being a politician would be a disastrous profession as they would be hounded wherever they are and taken to task by the people.
