Goa, Dec 4: Day after Goa government agreed to hold inquiry into its funding, Goa Foundation has said it would take hardly 15 minutes for the authorities to audit its source of income.
“Goa Foundation has no foreign funding. The money in our bank account can be audited in 15 minutes. That is the only fund we have with us,” the NGO’s director Claud Alvares reacted.
Several BJP MLAs had met chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar demanding inquiry into funding of Goa Foundation, which has recently approached the supreme court against renewal of iron ore mining leases.
“Government is free to conduct inquiry through Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or special investigating team (SIT) into our funding. We welcome any such inquiry,” Alvares said.
